Do you want your child always to feel like they can talk to you? Do you want your children to feel special, feel heard, feel important, feel like you want to spend time with them? Do you want to spend more quality time with your kids? Do you want your children to open up to you?
This pack of 30-bedtime question cards has a great mix of cards that get their imagination going and cards that really make them think. It's the perfect combination!
A simple question is all that you need to start the most important nighttime routine with your kids: talking & listening.
A trusting, caring, close relationship between the parent & child is built on love, respect, and trust. It all starts with a simple conversation... continued night after night until they know that you are there to listen to them. That's the key that opens the door to so much more - conversations that lead to the closeness with your child that you both need & want.
Bedtime is my favorite time of day. Yes, it can be hectic, but if we can get into a great routine, we can easily turn it into the best time of the day. You can have one question a night as the last thing before their kiss goodnight - it's a great way to end the day & send them into dreamland. :)
Bedtime really is such a great time to talk to your kids, get to know them even more, enjoy their company. When the day winds down and they arent' quite ready to fall asleep, it's when all of the good stuff comes out.
It's when they open up and share what's on their minds and hearts. I owe so many things to these nighttime chats with our kids over the years. All you have to do is ask the question that starts the ball rolling... then just sit back and listen.
Trust me - every child wants to be heard, from your toddlers to your teenagers. They want you to take an interest in their ideas and listen to what they have to say. These cards give you a jumping-off point.
I owe a lot to the tradition of bedtime chats. They are why children as young as toddlers and up through the teenager years want their parents to sit with them & talk before they go to sleep.
In our family, the Bedtime Chat routine is one that we've had for many years and one that I intend to keep for many years to come.
Print a second set and keep them in the kitchen or dining room to use as Conversation Starter Cards-- give the kids a chance to talk about their answers with the entire family.
Use a card each day of the month. Repeat monthly and hear all of their different answers!
Keep a set in the car and let your kids read one when you are driving. They are a great way to give your child something meaningful and fun to do in the car. (There have been studies that have shown kids open up & talk about deeper issues more in the car than anywhere else since they are sitting behind you and feel less intimidated to bring up the hard issues. This is a great place to start.)
